The Ghost Adventures crew was the first team to investigate the Castañeda Hotel, in the episode "Haunted Harvey House," and during a 2014 visit spotted something going down the staircase to the guest rooms; the team reported unexplained knocking, a female voice on spirit box recordings and shadowy figures, and staff say the hotel keeps fresh ghost stories coming. The mission-revival Harvey House beside the railroad depot opened in 1898 and closed in 1948, and stood mostly vacant for decades, a rundown bar and an urban explorers' haunt, before it was restored, with work starting in 2018 and a reopening in 2019. The Harvey Girls lived across Railroad Avenue in the Rawlings Building. It now operates as a hotel.
