Potato Creek State Park was established on June 6, 1977, around the 327-acre Worster Lake, on land used for hunting and fishing by Native peoples long before European settlers arrived in the 1830s. Local legend attributes sounds of a child crying and calling for their mother, heard by night fishermen near the beach and pier, to children who drowned here during the area's more perilous frontier days — though no specific drowning incident has been documented to confirm it.
State park around Worster Lake, open daily with a gate fee. The nature center has shorter hours. Visit in daylight.
