The Farnsworth House Inn, built around 1810 on Baltimore Street, was used by Confederate sharpshooters during the Battle of Gettysburg and as a makeshift hospital afterward; its brick walls still carry bullet holes. It is described by VisitPA and the inn itself as one of the most haunted houses in America, and crews from Unsolved Mysteries, Sightings, Ghost Hunters International and the History Channel have filmed there. Reported spirits include a woman named Mary who walks the corridors, a civilian man heard sobbing in an upstairs room, a midwife watching over a woman in labor and soldiers in the garret and cellar.
Working inn and restaurant with nightly ghost tours, séances and overnight stays; book ahead for tours and rooms.
