The Vogue Theatre is an 800-seat movie house on Hollywood Boulevard that opened in 1935 or 1936 (Cinema Treasures gives July 9, 1935). A 2024 historical marker notes that it closed as a theater in 2001 after 66 years. It later held a supper club, the Vogue Multicultural Museum and, since late 2023, a church.
The International Society for Paranormal Research, which moved in around 1997, reported nine resident entities: six children, one adult woman and two adult men. Ghost-tour operators connect the children and a schoolteacher to Prospect Elementary School, said to have burned on the site, and name a projectionist called Fritz who is said to have died of a heart attack in the booth. A ghost-tour page notes that people who have worked in the building over the last 50 years say no employee ever died there, and the details change from teller to teller.
No longer a public theater. Google Maps lists the Vogue Multicultural Museum at this address, and a church has used the building since late 2023, so the exterior on Hollywood Boulevard is the reliable view; check before planning to go inside.
