Guests and staff at the Chateau Marmont report windows opening on their own, furniture moved, disembodied voices, noises through the night and a female ghost seen in guests' beds. The best-known story is from Bungalow 3, where John Belushi, a regular since the mid-1970s, was found dead of a drug overdose on March 5, 1982, at 33: in 1999 a family staying there said their two-year-old son spent time laughing and chatting with someone unseen he called "the funny man," and when his mother later showed him a photograph of Belushi, he pointed and repeated the name. Belushi is also said to wander by the pool at night, Jim Morrison's ghost is rumored to have stuck around, and Dua Lipa has said she wouldn't go into Bungalow 3. The hotel was built in 1929 on the Sunset Strip, modelled on a Loire Valley château, and has spent nearly a century as Hollywood's most discreet hotel.
