The Slippery Noodle Inn opened in 1850 as the Tremont House and is Indiana's oldest bar still in its original building, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Over the years it was a roadhouse, a possible Underground Railroad way station, a brothel upstairs, and a Prohibition-era restaurant that secretly made liquor in the basement. Visit Indiana lists it among the state's haunted places, and the bar has held its first official haunted tour. Patrons and staff describe footsteps and voices and name ghosts including Sarah, a woman said to have been killed by a client, and George, a possible former caretaker.
Working blues bar and restaurant on South Meridian Street, open to the public with live music most nights; check the bar for hours and for its haunted tour dates.
