At the Wheeler-Stokely Mansion, reports include an apparition of a man walking a dog, a woman in old-fashioned dress seen running out a side door, and cold, unsettling feelings along the estate's old dog-walking path. Built 1912-1913 for auto-parts magnate Frank Wheeler, business partner of James Allison at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, this Arts and Crafts mansion was designed by Philadelphia architect William Price and decorated with Moravian tile from the Mercer Tile Works. William B. Stokely Jr. of the Stokely-Van Camp food company bought it in 1937, and Marian College acquired it in 1963; it's used today as a conference and events center on the Marian University campus, alongside its gatehouse, 320-foot colonnade, gazebo, and teahouse.
