Rider's Inn in Painesville has stood since 1812 and has been a stagecoach stop, a possible stop on the Underground Railroad, a Civil War hospital and a speakeasy. TourismOhio lists it among Ohio's haunted places. The spirit most often described is Suzanne Rider, wife of the original owner, said to be more helpful than harmful. In one often-told guest story, a woman in a nightgown let a late-arriving couple in and pointed them upstairs when no one else was in the building. The inn reopened in April 2026.
Historic inn with a restaurant and rooms; the inn has offered ghost tours and overnight events, so check with the inn for the current schedule.
