The Old Jail Museum on the Granbury square is a two-story limestone jail built in 1885 that held Hood County prisoners from 1886 until 1978, and its tower is believed by some to have been meant for a gallows. It is now a museum. Paranormal groups say they have recorded a man growling, a cell door slamming and a woman's voice saying "Leave!" in the cells. The recordings are the groups' own claims and have not been verified, and the jail is a stop on Granbury ghost tours.
Small county museum, usually open on weekend afternoons; check before you go. Granbury's Ghosts and Legends walking tours run on weekends.
