The Granbury Opera House, built in 1886 on the courthouse square, is a working theater in one of Texas's best-preserved small-town squares. Local legend says John Wilkes Booth escaped to Granbury and lived there under another name, and his ghost is said to pace the balcony in a white shirt and black trousers; historians say Booth died in 1865, so the story is folklore. Discovery Channel's Ghost Lab investigated the theater in 2009, and local ghost-walk tours include it.
Working community theater on the Granbury square; check the box office for shows. Granbury also runs ghost walks, so ask the visitors' bureau.
