The Merchant's House Museum in NoHo is a Federal and Greek Revival row house, home to the Tredwell family from 1835 to 1933 and preserved with its original furnishings, and the New York Times called it Manhattan's most haunted house. Stories center on Gertrude Tredwell, the youngest daughter, who was born here and died here at 93, and who in 1933 was seen by neighbors chasing children away weeks after she had died. Staff and visitors have recorded more than a hundred incidents, among them the scent of lavender, cold spots and voices, and the Ghost Hunters team investigated the house in its second season.
House museum open Thursday through Monday with guided tours and candlelight ghost tours; check the museum for hours.
