At Greenlawn Cemetery, visitors report an unsettling feeling near the many suicides buried there. Established in 1845 and grown from three acres to roughly thirty, Greenlawn Cemetery — Franklin's main cemetery, listed on the National Register of Historic Places — holds about 15,000 burials, including US Congressman William W. Wick, Indiana Governor Roger D. Branigin, and Hall of Fame basketball player Fuzzy Vandivier, along with over 300 military veterans. Its 1878 Gothic Revival chapel now serves as the cemetery office.
