Cumberland Cemetery near Wenona sits on rolling hills once home to a fort built during the Black Hawk War to protect nearby settlers. Local legend, reported as far back as the 1950s, tells of a headless woman said to have been decapitated by a jealous husband on a stump in the cemetery; her ghost, along with spook lights and the ghost of a little girl, is said to haunt both the cemetery and a nearby barn.
