The Three Chimneys Inn in Durham grew from a house associated with one of the earliest English settlers on the Oyster River and is now a historic inn near the University of New Hampshire. Haunted-places lists name Hannah, a young woman of the founding Hill family said to have drowned in the Oyster River, as the home's most restless spirit. Guests report doors that lock themselves, random whispering in the halls and silverware that goes missing.
Operating inn and restaurant in Durham's historic district; the best way to experience it is an overnight stay.
