The Pfister Hotel opened in 1893 as the Grand Hotel of the West and is a landmark of downtown Milwaukee, famous for its large Victorian art collection. Its ghost is said to be the founder Charles Pfister, who died in 1927 and who is reported to keep an eye on his property, sometimes with his dog on the eighth-floor storage level. Since the early 2000s, visiting baseball players have told of strange sounds and sightings, earning the hotel the nickname baseball's haunted hotel. Milwaukee ghost tours include the Pfister, and it still welcomes guests.
