The Captain Frederick Pabst Mansion on Milwaukee's Wisconsin Avenue was built in 1892 for the brewing magnate Frederick Pabst and is now a house museum. Staff and visitors describe doors that open and close, chandeliers that shake, objects that fall, and candles that popped out of candelabras during events, once again on the captain's birthday. The spirit most often reported is Maria Pabst, seen as a woman in late Victorian dress in her former bedroom and the music room, with Captain Pabst himself also named. The mansion offers daytime tours and special after-hours October tours.
Open year-round for guided and self-guided tours with admission; special after-hours tours run in October. Check the mansion's site for hours and tickets.
