The Miller House was built in 1905 for Elmer and Lizzy Miller, whose house plans the Messenger-Inquirer praised that year as a model of beauty and convenience. Elmer Miller worked in coal, contracting and road building, and both were active in civic life. The house is now a family-owned restaurant with a basement bar. Local accounts say the spirit of a young girl plays with a ball on the wooden staircase, which Kentucky Tourism describes as a rumor. The Haunts of Owensboro ghost tours include the house. There is no known record tying the story to a particular child.
Working restaurant and bar in a historic home downtown; open for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch on most days and closed Mondays. Check the restaurant for current hours.
