The Tampa Theatre opened in 1926 as an ornate movie palace and still operates today. Projectionist Foster "Fink" Finley ran its booth for 35 years, from 1930 to 1965, arriving hours before showtime out of sheer love for the job; he collapsed there from cancer and died weeks later. Staff have long reported footsteps and chains rattling behind the stage, cigarette smoke drifting from the empty booth, cold drafts, and the sense of a figure tapping projectionists on the shoulder during a show.
