Founded in 1883 as a Methodist school in Waleska, Reinhardt University's oldest surviving dormitory, Paul Jones Hall, carries a persistent campus legend: that a janitor once hanged himself in the building's padlocked attic. Students on the top floor report doors opening and closing on their own, showers and water spigots turning on and off without anyone touching them, and, some nights, sounds from the attic that echo the story of his death.
Paul Jones Hall is a 1939 building that now houses Reinhardt University's School of Education. It is a working campus building, not a dorm, and is open only to students and staff. The campus grounds are open to the public.
