Salem Church, standing since the 1800s off Salem Church Road near Kelly Bridge Road, has circulated as one of the Dawsonville area's best-known haunted sites for decades, appearing on multiple independent haunted-places listings. Visitors have reported their car engines shutting off or headlights flickering as they approach, a pair of glowing red eyes visible at the altar through the windows, and the silhouette of a figure standing inside looking out. As of a 2008 update, the property is closed to the public, marked no trespassing, and patrolled nightly by police — anyone wanting to investigate is expected to get permission first.
