Staff and guests at the Overland Hotel & Saloon report ghosts, especially in Room 10, the hotel's most haunted room; a maid and bartender who worked there for six years described a mist in the shape of a body in Room 8 and a heavy glass ashtray flying across the laundry room, and staff can steer guests away from haunted rooms if they prefer. The Travel Channel's Ghost Adventures spent an evening at the hotel trying to contact its resident spirits. The hotel stands on the site of a building that, from 1863, served at various times as a brothel, gambling house, boarding house, grocery, bowling alley and restaurant. The present building went up in 1946 after a fire destroyed a third of the town, and it reopened as a hotel, saloon and dance hall with a hand-carved Brunswick bar from around 1884; the rooms are on the second floor, above the saloon and dance hall.
Operating hotel and saloon on Main Street with thirteen themed rooms; the saloon is open daily. Ask about Room 10 when booking.
