This building at 201 North Randolph Street opened in 1926-27 as the Lamoine Hotel, Macomb's first large modern hotel, built to serve the city's busy rail station and state university. The Macomb Journal newspaper later moved its offices into the ground floor. Local ghost tours stop here regularly, centered on a third-floor room nicknamed the "Satan Room," where visitors report evil-feeling shadows, disembodied voices, and knocking with no one there.
The building is now The Lamoine, an assisted living and memory care residence, so it is private and not open to visitors. Please respect the residents. The 1926 exterior can be seen from the street.
