Kendall was a gold town that thrived from 1901 to 1912 after a cyanide mill opened in 1900, peaking at about 1,500 people and declining after the Barnes-King mine folded in 1920. Only three stone buildings and the cemetery remain, and several buildings collapsed over old mine shafts. The Boy Scouts of America maintain the site.
Check with the Lewistown Chamber of Commerce about access; shafts under old buildings make them dangerous.
