The Moss Mansion in Billings was built in 1903 for banker and businessman Preston B. Moss and is now a museum. Six members of the Moss family died while living in the house, among them the youngest child, Virginia, who died of diphtheria in 1908 at age six. Staff and visitors most often describe Virginia as a gentle, friendly presence. Reports include a little girl seen in the house, a blue orb on the staircase, a rocking chair that moves by itself, and unexplained noises and doors. The mansion is a regular stop on Billings ghost tours and has hosted Halloween events.
Open as a house museum with guided tours; check the museum for current hours. Ghost tours and Halloween programs run seasonally.
