Hyde Hall, in Glimmerglass State Park near Cooperstown, is a grand neoclassical mansion begun in 1817 by George Clarke and now a state historic site. New York ghost lists describe George Clarke's apparition, footsteps and knocking, distant music and sheets pulled from beds, and a detached family crypt on the grounds. The site offers candlelit ghost tours on some evenings.
Seasonal house tours and Friday and Saturday candlelit ghost tours in fall; check Hyde Hall for hours and tickets.
