Historic Cherry Hill in Albany is a house museum built in 1787 for the Van Rensselaer family, remembered for a murder in 1827, when John Whipple was shot and killed and his wife, Elsie, and her lover, Jesse Strang, were tried for it. The room where he was killed also served as a nursery, and the house has long had a reputation for being haunted. The museum runs murder-mystery and ghost tours in the fall.
