The Eklund Hotel in Clayton opened in 1892 as a mercantile and is now a three-story sandstone boutique hotel with a saloon and restaurant. Clayton is called one of the most haunted towns in New Mexico, and the hotel's best-known ghost is a maid named Irene who is said to haunt Room 307, with creaking floorboards and faces appearing in the wallpaper.
Operating hotel, saloon and restaurant on Main Street; ask about Room 307 when booking.
