Fort Francisco was built in La Veta in the 1870s as a fortified trading post and later became a museum of the area's pioneer history. Staff in the west wing describe two presences known locally as the Candle Lady and the Floating Lady, a cold spot in the kitchen, orbs in photographs, and lights that flicker without explanation.
