Fort William Henry at the foot of Lake George is a reconstruction of the British fort that fell to the French in the siege of 1757, a battle and its aftermath that are told in The Last of the Mohicans. It is now a museum with costumed interpreters, and New York ghost lists describe visitors hearing whispers and having their hair pulled in the basement area where prisoners were held. Evening ghost tours are offered in season.
Open seasonally with daytime tours and ghost tours; check the museum for hours.
