Castle Dome's mines were worked from the 1860s until 1979, making them some of Arizona's longest-worked claims, and the nearby landing served river traffic until its site was flooded by Imperial Dam's reservoir. The museum now stands on the old mining district with more than fifty restored and re-created buildings, about seven of them original, and guided underground tours of the Hull Mine.
Reached by a graded dirt road inside the Kofa area; check the museum's website for hours and tour times.
