Yaquina Bay Lighthouse in Newport, built in 1871, is Oregon's only surviving wooden lighthouse with the keeper's house attached; it was used as a beacon for only a few years and later became a museum. The best-known ghost story tells of Muriel Trevenard, a young woman who went back into the house to retrieve a handkerchief and was never seen again; it is a long-told local legend. The lighthouse was closed for restoration and reopened in September 2025.
State historic site with tours on a seasonal schedule; the grounds are in Yaquina Bay State Recreation Site and are open daily.
