The Wells Inn, built in 1895 during Sistersville's oil boom by Ephraim Wells, is a National Register hotel on the Ohio River. Guests and staff report doors that open and close on their own, the sound of a pen scratching on paper, furniture moving and an elevator that goes to the third floor without being called, and a door to Room 324 that sticks shut. Many blame the founder. The Paranormal Quest TV series investigated the inn in its first season. These are anecdotal.
