The Virginian Hotel in Medicine Bow, finished in 1911 and named for Owen Wister's novel The Virginian, is a National Register hotel on the old Lincoln Highway. Travel Wyoming lists it among the state's haunted places, with the story of a woman in beige who is said to have jumped from a third-story window and is heard crashing through it, and a chivalrous cowboy who opens doors for ladies.
