Local accounts collected by Redding historians hold that a railroad worker was killed near the old rail crossing on Topstone Road in the early 1900s. Visitors near the tracks before the overpass, usually at night, report orbs of light and the fleeting appearance of what looks like a lit tent before it vanishes.
Public road in Redding. The legend is tied to the old railroad corridor, so stay out of any rail right-of-way and off private property. Do not stop on narrow roadsides.
