John McKleroy, a partner in the Anniston Land Company, built this Queen Anne mansion in 1888 on the highest hill along Quintard Avenue. Listed on the National Register as the McKleroy-Wilson-Kirby House, it became the Victoria, a country inn and restaurant, in 1985. After a renovation it reopened as Hotel Finial, and it still takes guests. For decades guests and staff at the Victoria reported footsteps in the main house, a piano heard playing in the empty lounge, glasses clinking on their own behind the bar, and a woman seen on the upstairs landing, whom some take to be one of the mansion's early residents.
