The Sterling Opera House opened in 1889, held a jail beneath its stage, and closed after a 1945 fire-marshal order. It has been sealed to the public in recent years, though restoration has been discussed. Ghost Hunters investigated in 2011, hearing reports of a child's voice and touches in the sub-basement; no tragedies are recorded from its operating years.
Closed to the public; the exterior can be seen across the Derby Green.
