The South Bass Island Lighthouse at Put-in-Bay, built in 1897, is on TourismOhio's haunted list. According to the story told there, the 1898 death of a man named Sam Anderson at the lighthouse remains a mystery, and his restless spirit is blamed for footsteps, slamming doors and unexplained noises inside. The lighthouse is owned by The Ohio State University's Stone Laboratory.
Public access is limited and seasonal and the building belongs to the university, so check before planning a visit. The exterior can be seen from the shoreline on Langram Road.
