The Partridge Inn, established in the late 1800s around a house built in 1836, is Georgia's first hotel listed with Historic Hotels of America. Local legend holds that a young Augusta woman named Emily, engaged to be married, was in the hotel's bridal suite finishing her wedding preparations when her fiancé was shot and killed after being mistaken for someone else while riding into town. She wore her wedding gown for weeks afterward, never married, and reportedly died of a broken heart. Guests and staff describe a woman with long chestnut hair still wandering the halls in her wedding dress.
Operating historic hotel on Walton Way, a Curio Collection hotel by Hilton. Interiors are for guests, but the lobby and restaurant are open to visitors.
