Orchestra Hall in Detroit's Midtown opened in 1919 and is the home of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Its ghost is said to be Ossip Gabrilowitsch, the pianist and conductor who led the orchestra in its early decades and who was the son-in-law of Mark Twain. Employees and guests report footsteps, voices and a cold presence backstage and in the offices, and some have described seeing an apparition. The hall appears on Detroit ghost tours.
A working concert hall; tickets are needed for performances. Check the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's calendar and tour information.
