The Mothman Museum on Main Street in Point Pleasant, opened in 2005 beside the silver Mothman statue, holds props from the film The Mothman Prophecies and documents from eyewitnesses to the 1966-67 sightings, along with press clippings and photographs of the Silver Bridge collapse of December 1967. The museum is a stop on West Virginia's Paranormal Trail, and the annual Mothman Festival draws thousands. The creature is a cryptid legend, and the Silver Bridge disaster, in which 46 people died, is a real tragedy that deserves respect.
