Mission Point Resort stands on the site of Mission House, which opened in 1825 as a Protestant mission school for Native American and Métis children, some of whom died while they were students there. The resort grew out of a 1950s retreat center. The Ghost Hunters episode Frozen in Fear investigated the property in 2011, and staff and guests have long described footsteps, being touched and a little girl's voice in the theater room, a man dressed like a judge in the bar, and the ghost of Harvey, a jilted young man said to have died in the woods. The children's history is real, and is the part of the stories most worth remembering with respect.
