Livermore was a logging town of about 150 to 200 people in the White Mountains, with a post office, school, store, power plant and mansion for the Saunders family who owned the Sawyer River Railroad. A 1927 flood ended the railroad, and the town was dissolved in 1951. Foundations remain along the old railroad bed on a hike from the Sawyer River Road.
Road closed in winter; hike about two miles in from the gate to the ruins.
