The Jean Bonnet Tavern on the Lincoln Highway near Bedford dates to the 1760s, was a headquarters during General Forbes' expedition against Fort Duquesne and later a rallying point in the Whiskey Rebellion. It is considered one of the most haunted places in the state. The owner has told the Altoona Mirror that the spirits include William, said to have been hanged in the building after being accused of stealing horses, and that customers have felt a pat on the back, found their things moved and seen a group of frontiersmen enjoy the live piano.
