The Hotel Macomber on Beach Avenue in Cape May began as the Stockton Villa and is a boutique hotel on the seafront. Cape May tourism and ghost-tour guides tell of a woman in Room 10, an older guest who returned every summer after her husband died and always asked for that room. A medium has suggested she is Irene Wright, known as the trunk lady for her steamer trunk. Heavy furniture or a trunk is said to be heard moving across the room at night, with perfume and knocking reported there.
Operating hotel on Beach Avenue; ask about Room 10 when booking.
