The Gunter Hotel opened in 1909 in downtown San Antonio and is remembered as the place where blues musician Robert Johnson recorded in 1936. Its best-known ghost story, told on San Antonio ghost tours, is of a woman said to have been killed in the hotel in the early 1960s, whose room was found with no sign of her body; a portrait is said to hang in the lobby bar. Staff and guests also tell of cold spots and unexplained activity on the upper floors.
