Garth Woodside Mansion is an 1871 Second Empire Victorian mansion built by Colonel John H. Garth near Hannibal, and it now operates as a bed and breakfast. Mark Twain stayed here several times, and some say his ghost still visits, especially the room named for him. Guests and staff report phantom pipe smoke and strange orbs of light. Haunted Hannibal Ghost Tours, which explore the town's most haunted sites and the Millionaire's Row mansions, help keep the stories alive.
A bed and breakfast with a limited number of guest rooms; stays are by reservation, so check its site before visiting. Tours of the house may be offered at set times.
