Franklin was a coal-mining town on the Green River where mines produced about 4.15 million tons of coal and 88 miners died, among them 37 in an 1894 mine fire. A 2.5-mile round-trip walk follows an old rail grade to a coal cart, sealed mine shaft, powerhouse foundation and cemetery, beside a warm spring on the river.
Easy trail near Green River Gorge; parking fees may apply, and cliff jumping near the river is dangerous.
