The Seattle Underground is the network of old street-level storefronts and sidewalks beneath Pioneer Square, left below grade when the city rebuilt after the 1889 fire. Bill Speidel's Underground Tour leads visitors through, mostly as a history tour, and a ghost-focused tour runs in the fall. Ghost Hunters explored tunnels beneath Seattle in a 2007 episode, and tours mention figures like a bank teller named Edward and a shopkeeper called Merchant Mary, which are stories from tour operators and not documented.
Guided tours only, from the Underground Tour office in Pioneer Square; the fall ghost tour runs on select dates, so check availability.
