The Conference House, also called the Billopp House, is a stone manor at the southern tip of Staten Island built around 1680 for Captain Christopher Billopp. It is where, on September 11, 1776, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams and Edward Rutledge met British Admiral Lord Howe in an unsuccessful peace conference. Staten Island ghost lists describe British redcoats seen in the house and the feeling of being watched while walking through it.
