Belmont Mansion on the Belmont University campus was built in the 1850s as the Italianate villa of Adelicia Acklen, one of the wealthiest women in the South, and it is now a house museum. Security guards, students and visitors have reported Adelicia's apparition in a Victorian gown moving through the rooms or on the grounds, seemingly checking on the house. Nashville ghost tours include the mansion among the city's haunted historic homes. The stories are local lore and the house is best known for its architecture and collection.
Open for guided tours with admission on a regular schedule; check Belmont Mansion's site for hours.
